Parents' Association
Doon Convent N.S. has on excellent enthusiastic Parents' Committee. The Parents' Association works with the Principal, Staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership of home and school.
The Parents' Association advises the principal and the Board of Management on policy issues and incidents that may require a review of school policies, e.g.: Bullying, Safety, Homework, Enrolment etc.
Our school Parents' Association also organises extra-curricular activities. If it isn't Grandparents Day, its the ice-cream van at school sports day or the Scholastic book fair, cake sales and the one big fundraiser that occurs annually, Silver Circle.
The Parents' Association is a support for parents in the school. The Parents' Association is not a forum for complaints against either an individual teacher or parent. The complaints procedure is the mechanism for this.
We in Doon Convent N.S. have an excellent rapport with our Parents' Association and we work well together. Over the last 4 years we have fund raised for ICT (iPads and charging trolley), Pantomime, Sports equipment and Graded Readers. Our school benefits hugely from our Parents' Association and their commitment to the school.
We are always striving to improve our school and the Parents' Association are the beacon to enlighten the path for enhancing your child's holistic education experience.
The Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer can always be contacted to join the Parents' Association.
The Parents' Association encourages this as it stimulates
a) the personal growth of the school
b) prompts reflective practices of the school operation, policies and teaching
c) generates income to facilitate extra teaching aids/experiences for your children
d) great social interaction and community involvement
The Parents' Association have meetings throughout the year. Check out the school's website for upcoming events, recent news and you can also get involved through either contacting the School Secretary, Marian or any member of the committee. Please do!
